How can I whiten my teeth safely?
The safest and most effective way to whiten your teeth is to have it done by a specialist. Your dentist can offer you 3 different WHITEsmile® tooth whitening treatments:
HOME BLEACHING:
The professional Tooth Whitening at home with customised laboratory-made trays.
POWER BLEACHING:
The professional Tooth Whitening chair-side in the dental clinic with or without Bleaching Lamp.
More detailed information can be found in the product comparison table.
What causes tooth discolouration?
There are many causes, the most frequent include the natural ageing process, the consumption of certain foods or beverages (e.g. tea, coffee, coke, red wine, and tobacco), injury, antibiotics, strong fluorides, nerve damage and previous dental treatment.
How can I keep my teeth white?
We recommend using WHITEsmile® After Bleaching Mousse after a tooth whitening treatment. This gel can prevent sensitivity and can be used after any WHITEsmile®-Bleaching treatment.
To protect and maintain your WHITEsmile®, use the Whitening Toothpaste which fights colour-causing bacteria on the surface of your teeth. For the best results, start using the toothpaste before bleaching in order to lower the risk of sensitivity.

Are tooth whitening products and treatments safe?
To date there is no research which shows that tooth bleaching done under the supervision of a dentist causes damage to the structure of your teeth.
What is the difference between a tooth cleaning procedure and tooth bleaching?
Over time, all teeth will be affected by some degree of discolouration. Some kinds of discolouration can be removed with the help of a professional tooth cleaning procedure, but others require bleaching and this can best be done safely with the help of your dentist.
Will bleaching whiten crowns, fillings, veneers, etc?
Dental treatments like these are usually made to match surrounding teeth and do not change colour over time, compared with real teeth which will change. Slight differences in colour will not be noticeable.
Tip: In order to match fillings, crowns etc to the colour of the teeth, it is advisable to get bleaching treatment done before, especially when the tooth or crown is visible. By doing so you can ensure your dentally enhanced smile is white too!
How white do you want to go?
With bleaching, the best results can be achieved at the dentist. But which shade should you choose? The VITA company (in Bad Säckingen, Germany) is the world leader in terms of defining teeth colour shading. The majority of doctors trust and use the colour charts made by VITA.
VITA has recently produced a new colour chart - the VITA Bleachedguide 3D-MASTER®. With this you can see immediately how successful your tooth whitening procedure has been. From March 2007, all WHITEsmile® products will come with this colour chart. You can also order it directly from us.
